Buyer

AeroFarms is the commercial leader in vertical controlled environment agriculture and is seeking a Buyer reporting to the Purchasing Manager with exceptional interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail with great motivation and drive.  The candidate has a superior work experience and a proven record of success.

The Company

AeroFarms is dedicated to enabling local production at commercial scale in different markets throughout the world.  Specifically, we are focused on developing local farms that grow flavorful, safe, pesticide-free produce that can be easily traced from source to farm(s) through a simple and transparent supply chain.  As we scale, we are looking for dedicated people who can help us address our global food crisis and fundamentally transform agriculture.

AeroFarms is building a brand new state-of-the-art facility in Newark, NJ that will be the world’s largest indoor vertical farm for leafy greens and herbs and will serve the NY Metro area.  To support substantial interest from national retailers, AeroFarms plans a significant scaling of the business, including facilities in additional cities in the near-term.  In addition to North America, the company also has farms under development in other regions of the world.

Role

You will report to the Purchasing Manager and will assist in the administration of the company’s purchasing efforts.  The position will require excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

The position will experience significant exposure to various aspects of the company’s business and to senior management through projects and assignments.  Main activities to include:

Daily Tasks:

  • Request quotes, negotiate prices and process Purchase Orders based on requisitions received
  • Vendor confirmation
  • Accurate expected delivery date updates
  • Collaboration with Accounts Payable to ensure payment. Resolve receiving discrepancies, invoices and supplier returns in a timely and complete manner
  • Maintain PO system data to effectively generate suggested POs
  • Maintain necessary required vendor documents (electronic and physical) such as W-9’s, indemnities, tax exemption forms etc.
  • Provide timely and appropriate material availability information to internal customers
  • Work closely with internal customers to communicate, follow up and help with issues related to purchased goods and services
  • Negotiate Pricing Programs as directed by the Purchasing Manager
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships to not only support PO fulfillment, but also negotiate volume discounts and price breaks wherever possible

Experience

  • Minimum 6 months Purchasing Experience

Knowledge

  • Logical negotiation thought process. Strong understanding of managing cost, customers and supplier relationships

Required Skills

  • Basic math skills
  • Proficient Computer skills  including Microsoft Office ( Word, Excel)
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision)

Desired Skills

  • Ability to perform cost analysis
  • Ability to analyze blueprints

Degree

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Purchasing or related field or equivalent experience

Senior Corporate Development Analyst

Role

You will report to the VP of Corporate Development and will be responsible for maintaining the Corporate Development team’s financial models, conducting market research, business and financial analysis of new market opportunities and detailed reporting on the company’s current active projects. You will support AeroFarms’ entry into new markets. The position will require excellent communication skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and a strong command of financial modeling, and financial and accounting principles.

The Analyst will experience significant exposure to various aspects of the company’s business and to senior management through projects and assignments and is expected to transition to another role within the company.

Main activities to include:

  • Financial Modeling: Develop and refine financial models, including cash flow models and financial statements
  • Market Development: Support the development team in market research and analysis that informs project selection; assimilate information and build business cases for market development
  • Project Development: Support the development and closing of projects, including siting, permitting, customer acquisition and financing; prepare proposals and applications to various incentive programs, prepare presentations for prospective customers, partners and stakeholders; support due diligence and closing
  • Project Management. Monitor and deliver project checklists and timelines. Drive assigned tasks to completed outcomes
  • Special Projects. Under the direction of management, support projects across a variety of disciplines related to accomplishment of strategic objectives of the company
Qualifications:

The hard working, self-motivated candidate will possess:

  • 4+ years in an analyst role managing financial models, providing research and analysis influencing key decision making, and supporting strategic initiatives
  • High Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Skilled
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with finance, operations, engineering and horticulture teams to effectively achieve required outcomes
  • Investment banking, private equity, consulting or corporate strategy experience preferred
  • Must be detail oriented and well organized
  • Ability to travel (approximately 25% time)

Mechanical Designer

AeroFarms is a change-the-world vertical farming company revolutionizing agriculture in the heart of Newark, NJ.  

The past 12 months have been an exciting time for us. Our team has grown five-fold during this period and we now need a special individual – someone who lives and breathes engineering, who’s looking to take the next step in their 10+ year Engineering career to join our cutting-edge team and take the lead in making detailed drawings of equipment during design and after building (“as built”) for large scale equipment constructed at one of our New Jersey farms.

You have:

  • A passion for engineering and have spent the last 10 years engineering/designing/drafting on equipment development teams
  • A demonstrated knowledge and experience with mechanical process equipment, process automation systems, plumbing pneumatics, and sanitary design
  • Experience building a Bill of Materials and managing a change control process
  • Previously used SolidWorks to develop mechanical designs and drawings and are also proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office
  • Experience leading a change control board for engineering changes and other types of document control
  • A knack for adding detail to drawings made by others on an engineering team
  • The ability to convert sketches into drawings suitable for RFQs
  • A BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology or Associates in drafting or design or Mechanical Engineering Technology degree

  • Experience with food grade equipment (food packaging, food processing, food conveyance)
  • Experience doing engineering change requests
