AeroFarms Top 10 of 2019

This past year has been powerful in so many ways for AeroFarms. Our team has been hard at work growing delicious plants, serving our communities, and taking our innovations to new heights. We would like to thank all of our partners and our community for your ongoing support. Here’s our #AeroFarmsTop10 of 2019 — we’re grateful to be with you on this journey to grow the best plants possible for the betterment of humanity.

We were honored to have received several major awards for our focus on clean technology and responsible stewardship, including the 2019 CleanTech Top 100 Company, 2019 Thrive Top 50, Ethical Business’ Responsible Business Award, and the Global UN SDG Awards. From Day 1, AeroFarms has always been focused on all of our stakeholders – environment, community, and our team, and we are proud to lead the way with sustainable innovation.

Co-Founder & CEO David Rosenberg was named one of the 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs by Goldman Sachs. “There has never been a more exciting time to be part of an industry where catalytic organizations like AeroFarms are revolutionizing our food paradigm and solving some of the world’s biggest problems.” Hear more from David here.

We were named one of Fast Company’s 2019 World Changing Ideas and Fast Company’s 2019 Most Innovative Companies in the World for the second year in a row – this time for data science! Our CTO Roger Buelow, who leads our technology innovation and strategic partnership work with major Fortune 100 companies, helped launch with the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) the new Precision Indoor Plants Consortium (PIP), a public-private partnership that transcends the bounds of traditional agriculture to develop the most flavorful, nutritious crops.

AeroFarms first #FarmtoPlane initiative with Singapore Airlines took flight earlier this year and has been a soaring success in 2019! Conde Nast Traveler says, “The airline has partnered with vertical farm company AeroFarms to grow its own lettuce and baby greens inside an old steel mill in an industrial neighborhood of Newark, just five miles from the airport. All of the aeroponically grown arugula, baby bok choy, and mixed salad greens get to the plane within 24 hours of harvesting, making it “literally the world’s freshest airline food…The only way to get fresher greens in-flight is to pick them from your own garden.” Read the full article here.

We’re committed to driving the industry forward with a focus on how to increase produce consumption. Co-Founder & CMO Marc Oshima was elected to the boards of the Produce Marketing Association and the CEA Food Safety Coalition and serves on the FDA Romaine Advisory Task Force to share best practices and insights from our leading indoor vertical farming operations.

We expanded our retail brand, Dream Greens, to include a new product category – microgreens! Our locally grown, pesticide-free and delicious Micro Super Mix and Micro Spicy Mix launched with resounding success in grocery stores and food service across the northeast including Whole Foods, Fresh Direct, and FoodKick. Find your nearest store here.

We are honored that AeroFarms was named one of TIME’s 100 BEST INVENTIONS OF 2019! We’re grateful to have been selected for this award in the Food and Beverage Category. Our top chef partners like Marcus Samuelsson and David Chang agree as well, and we are so thankful for all of our customers who are enjoying our fresh, local, delicious greens all year round.

We enjoyed milestone growth as we passed 150+ employees across food safety, operations, horticulture, R&D, engineering, data science, accounting, strategic partnerships, sales & marketing, HR, and more!
