#10: Wins Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas Award for the 5th Time
AeroFarms was honored to make Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas list in 2022, being honored for the 5th time for our continuous advancement of world-changing innovation. This year, AeroFarms was a finalist in the “Midsized Companies Making The World A Better Place” category for our break-through AI-enabled plant visioning technology, in partnership with Nokia Bell Labs, that identifies plant interactions at the most advanced levels.
#9: Expands Community Farms Program
This year, AeroFarms expanded the Community Farms Program more than ever before, bringing our pioneering indoor vertical farming technology to local settings like schools, corporate cafeterias, and community centers to provide year-round access to fresh and nutritious leafy greens. Our custom vertical farm allows students and adults to participate in the full growing process from seed to salad, while experiencing the benefits of hyper-local, sustainable food production.
#8: Hosts Inaugural AgTech Innovation Summit
In May, AeroFarms hosted the first AgTech Innovation Summit and brought together vertical farming experts from across the globe to discuss the future of the industry. These insightful keynote addresses and panel discussions addressed big questions around the future of our food systems and how to make them more resilient. AeroFarms pioneered the CEA industry forward in 2022 through groundbreaking projects with FFAR and PIP, expanding the mission of the CEA Alliance, signing the Vertical Farming Manifesto, renewing our B Corporation Certification, and so much more.

2022 brought the heat! This year, we dropped Micro Wasabi Mustard – our hottest and boldest microgreen yet. It is a healthy hot sauce alternative packed with nutrients and bursting with an intense flavor profile. #5: Wins Awards For Flavor
This year, AeroFarms FlavorSpectrum™ of greens won more awards than ever before. Not only did the whole FlavorSpectrum™ concept and packaging design get recognized for Best Brand Marketing at the 2022 Zenith Global Vertical Farming World Congress, but a variety of our greens won individual awards for their unique flavors and unbeatable quality. Micro Broccoli was recognized as an Editor’s Pick by Progressive Grocer, and Micro Spicy Mix won the 6th Annual Produce Business Innovation Award.
#4: Announces Further Expansion in the Middle East
AeroFarms has proudly announced a new expansion in partnership with Qatar Free Zones Authority to build a new commercial indoor vertical farm to meet Qatar’s growing appetite for fresh, sustainably grown leafy greens. In addition, AeroFarms’ MENA expansion helps solve some of the biggest challenges of our time: food security through regional agriculture production and climate resiliency and growing fresh produce in arid conditions with up to 95% less water.

#2: Expands Nationwide with Whole Foods Market + The Fresh Market
You asked, we answered! In 2022, AeroFarms expanded nationwide with Whole Foods Market and The Fresh Market and is now meeting more customer demand than ever before. We are proud to announce this news as the first-ever indoor grower to be part of Whole Foods’ Global Planogram – providing access to healthy, flavorful, pesticide-free greens to shoppers across the United States.
#1: Opens New Farm in Danville, VA
AeroFarms Danville is now open! With 138,670 sq. ft of growing space, this is the world’s largest aeroponic smart farm. It is capable of serving over 50 million people within a day’s drive and growing over 3 million pounds of leafy greens annually. In addition, this farm has already created over 100 new jobs in the Danville, Virginia area.
